The Preschool Promise program shows success when the rate of kindergarten readiness of Preschool Promise participants is higher than the rate of non- participants. Ohio requires that all incoming kindergartners be assessed for their readiness to begin school. The Kindergarten Readiness Assessment  (KRA) categorizes children into three bands:  Demonstrating Readiness, Approaching Readiness and Emerging Readiness. Given by kindergarten teachers, this assessment tests children in four areas: social and emotional skills, language and literacy, math, physical well-being and motor development.
