Infant Vitality Rate

Infant mortality is the death of an infant before his or her first birthday. The infant mortality rate is the number of infant deaths for every 1,000 live births. The EveryOne Reach One Infant Vitality Task Force emphasizes improving the social determinants of health among all residents to improve health outcomes for families.

The target infant mortality rate of 5% is a national goal set by Healthy People 2030. While Montgomery County has not reached the overall infant mortality rate target, the community has seen a reduction in the racial disparity among white and black babies.
