Infant Vitality Rate

Infant mortality is the death of an infant before his or her first birthday. The infant mortality rate is the number of infant deaths for every 1,000 live births. The EveryOne Reach One Infant Vitality Task Force emphasizes improving the social determinants of health among all residents to improve health outcomes for families.

Early Intervention Results

Children are evaluated at age 3 to determine if developmental delays were improved by early intervention services. Strong early intervention services result in a lower percentage of need for ongoing support. 

Montgomery County Imagination Library Kindergarten Readiness

The Montgomery County Imagination Library was started in December of 2019. Studies of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in other communities have shown increased kindergarten readiness scores. In addition, studies have shown increased social and emotional benefits of receiving books and building a family library. 

Preschool Promise Kindergarten Readiness

The Preschool Promise program shows success when the rate of kindergarten readiness of Preschool Promise participants is higher than the rate of non- participants. Ohio requires that all incoming kindergartners be assessed for their readiness to begin school. The Kindergarten Readiness Assessment  (KRA) categorizes children into three bands:  Demonstrating Readiness, Approaching Readiness and Emerging Readiness. Given by kindergarten teachers, this assessment tests children in four areas: social and emotional skills, language and literacy, math, physical well-being and motor development.

After School Participation Impact on Students

Students participating in after school programs are in attendance at school more often and are promoted to the next grade at a higher rate. Research shows that after school enrichment time can be an equalizer for low-income students whose families are unable afford additional educational and extra curricular opportunities. 

Summer Program Impact on Students

Parents report how well their children responded to the program through a survey. Summer learning is designed to increase the social emotional well-being of a child and promote future academic success.

Out of School Youth Employment Information

The purpose of the Out of School Youth Program is to provide education and training to earn a livable wage. We track the number of participants who are employed six months and one year after completing the program, as well as their quarterly earnings. The employment and earnings data are tracked in these graphs.

In School Youth Employment Information

The goal of all Montgomery County’s youth programs is to prepare young people for the next stage of their life, whether that is postsecondary education, military service, apprenticeship, or employment.

We track those that continue into one of these fields. This graph shows the percentage of youth participants who were employed or continuing with school, military, or apprenticeship six months and one year after leaving the program.

Family Assistance Impact

The Family Assistance Division helps families achieve self-sufficiency. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are available to individuals and families who can prove economic need. The Ohio Works First (OWF) program provides time-limited cash assistance to low- and no-income families.

Child Support Impact

The percentage of child support collected can make a significant difference in a child's life. It supports a child's upbringing, ensures their basic needs are met, and helps to promote financial stability.

Children Services Impact

Children experience trauma when they are removed from their home. That trauma is minimized when a safe and stable environment is quickly facilitated. If reunification is not possible, the child will be matched with a loving, adoptive family. 

Fatherhood Initiative Impact

Participating in the Montgomery County Fatherhood Initiative assists fathers in overcoming barriers and gaining employment which also enables them to pay child support.
