According to Healthy People 2030, a national framework for improving the health and well-being across the lifespan, the target for reducing household food insecurity and children experiencing hunger is 6.0% and 0%, respectively.
COVID-19 exacerbated food insecurity in 2020 by impacting employment, health status, remote schooling, and business closures.
The United States Department of Agriculture has provided preliminary food insecurity numbers for 2020, but has not yet provided 2021 information.
